Jim Champagne

Jim Champagne hails from Chicopee, Massachusetts, but has lived in Kansas since 2005. Having spent 30 years in the Army, Jim retired in 2011 with his last assignment being the Division Command Sergeant Major of the 1 st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Jim's career in the Army has taken him to many assignments across the US and Europe to include; 82d Airborne Division Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, 101 st Airborne Division FT. Campbell, Kentucky, 1 st Infantry Division FT Riley, Kansas, Germany and Italy. Jim served during the War on Terror having taken part in one tour to Afghanistan and three tours to Iraq. Jim retired in 2011 and he and his Lisa have made Kansas their home.

As an avid outdoorsman's, Jim enjoys every aspect of hunting and specifically enjoys upland bird hunting with his three Brittany's Vic, Bugsy, and Belle. Having guided upland birds for over 10 years Jim looks forward to meeting new guests and showing off the talents of his Brittany's. Jim is in the Kansas Pheasant Forever Hall of Fame for his conservation efforts on his ranch that he co-owns with his best friend and hunting buddy Perry Wiggins.

Sharing his passion for the outdoors with Veterans and youth is one of Jim's favorite pastimes. Actively engaged with several Veteran organizations, Jim helps those who served find new outlets to build resiliency through the outdoors.

Ken Sims

Ken Sims is 60 years old and was born and raised in Abilene, Kansas. He has been an avid outdoorsman for 50 years of his life. Ken has been an upland bird hunter for 50 years and has been hunting the same bloodline of German Shorthair Pointers since 1978. Ken's favorite pastime is hunting and it is a tradition he has not only shared with his family, but a pastime he has introduced to many interested outdoorsman in the area. He enjoys the camaraderie of hunting and watching his dogs work.

Ken has led many successful hunts for interested hunters. Ken has enjoyed great success in his hunts and has forged many lifelong friendships over hunting. A successful hunt in Ken's opinion is not only the amount of birds, but the time spent enjoying each other's company and the great outdoors.

Mitch Staatz

Mitch and Cindy Staatz have owned and operated Prairie Vizslas Kennel of rural Chapman, KS for the last 20 years. They also raise Chukars to work their dogs, keeping them tuned up for a great hunt! Mitch was born and raised in Manhattan, KS. He grew up hunting Pheasant, Quail, and Prairie Chicken in the Flint Hills. Mitch has guided hunts for Kolling Game Pharms, Scattered Acres Youth Hunts, Hunter Safety classes, friends, and family. He enjoys teaching today's youth how to hunt behind dogs. His greatest joy is watching a good dog work! Mitch works full time for Great Plains Manufacturing. As an employee for 21 years, he has been a welder, fabricator, assembler, and route driver. Upon retirement, he plans to compete in more National Upland Classic Series bird dog tournaments.

Chris Welling

Originally from Michigan he moved to Kansas in 2010. Chris has been guiding uplands hunts for 10 years in the Flint Hills area. He provides guide service to a number of other outfitters in the area. He strives to provide a hunting experience that you will never forget. His favorite part of upland hunting is watching the dogs work. He hunts over German Shorthair pointers and Irish setters. He is an active member of the Dickinson county Pheasants Forever chapter where he enjoys mentoring youth hunters.

Nick Saunto

Originally from Michigan he moved to Kansas in 20019. He has been an avid outdoors men since he has old enough to hunt. He enjoys spending his days in the field whether it's deer hunting, upland hunting or just working the dogs. He is always willing to go the extra mile to provide a great hunting experience. He is a active member of the Dickinson County Pheasant Forever chapter where he enjoys mentoring youth. He hunts over German Shorthair Pointers and English setters. His main goal when guiding is to provide a memorable experience that hunters will remember for a lifetime.
