Fort Riley and K-State

Junction City

  • 15 minutes to Fort Riley's Hometown (dining, shopping, bowling, movie and live theatre, gyms, memorials & more).

  • Yoga Studio (daily classes, all levels, varied types)

Hunting and Fishing

  • Milford Lake is the Fishing Capital of Kansas (163 miles of shoreline and an abundance of Wipers, Walleye, Crappie, Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass, Blue and Channel Catfish, and Whitebass).

  • Kansas hunting regulations are carefully determined in order to manage the abundance of wildlife in the area.  Approximately 19,000 acres of public land surround Milford Reservoir. All are open to public hunting. The Steve Lloyd refuge contains an additional 1100 acres. There is a variety of game including quail, pheasant, prairie chicken, duck, goose, rabbit, turkey, deer and squirrel, as well as trapping of raccoon, muskrat, beaver and other furbearers.

  • Don't forget your fishing or hunting license (can be purchased on-line or at our convenience store).

Wildlife and Nature

  • Over 25 miles of trails (not consecutive) will bring you up-close and personal with birds and waterfowl such as Blue Heron, Eagles, Owls, Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush, Kentucky and Black-and-white Warblers, Louisiana Waterthrush, Northern Parula, as well as Summer and Scarlet Tanagers.

  • The Milford Nature Center is FREE and has a "Nature" playground, live animal exhibit, buttery house, boardwalks, fishery and interactive displays . . . truly a joy for all ages, take a picnic!

  • Please watch for turkey, deer, fox, coyotes, skunks, racoons, snakes and turtles crossing the road!

  • There is even an Elk herd on Fort Riley!

  • Painted Rock Trail (previously Liminal Trail) - 3.1 miles

  • Milford State Park - 12 miles total

  • Riverwalk (Junction City) - 10 miles total

  • Arboretum - 2.5 miles (Wakefield)
