No matter which accommodations you choose at Acorns, you will have chosen the perfect backdrop for a quality get-away. More space, more trees, more choices, more personal service, all of the necessary comforts, most of the extras, and less traffic and noise.
Milford and Wakefield are both small communities within 10 minutes that offer local great flavors. Or, Junction city is about 5 miles away for even more choices. Check out our upcoming events page for the local calendar of events.
Reserve a cabin in the fall/winter at seasonal discounts and be comfortable and in the woods easily within walking distance of thousands of acres of prime, public hunting grounds. Trophy white tails and turkey are not just legends here. If you want to add a guide to your trip, we can do that too.
Acorns resort has just begun, but new amenities are already in the works. In the next 5 years, we'll be adding more cabins, campsites, courtesy dock, beach areas, children's fishing pond, paint ball area, viewing tower, archery range, biking trails, on site rental equipment and possibly a main lodge with 50 guest rooms, restaurant/bar and banquet facilities.
This area provides some outstanding hiking opportunities. Inside the resort, there are 98 acres to explore under the shade of cedars and oaks. If you want a fully days hike, hit the shore and hike Corps land (get a map first) almost the entire perimeter of the lake (that may take a FEW days--even for the best).
Plan a winter trip if you'd like to sit in your cabin and watch the eagles fish from the trees overlooking Farnum Creek. All year long you're sure to find several species of birds, and possibly beaver, fox, and white tailed deer.
Kayaking and canoeing have become very popular with locals who know the uniqueness of what the lake and it's creeks and coves have to offer. Check with us about rentals/ instruction. Windsurfing/sailing beginners should start in Farnum Creek Cove. The rest of you--we'll tell you where to catch wind! Look for a brand new fleet of rental kayaks in the Summer of 2008 that will be the fastest, easiest and most fun watercrafts you can imagine
From the bank, boat or watercraft--bring a pole and you'll probably catch a fish. Depending on the month, it might be a walleye, bass, catfish or wiper. Make sure to bring your license (or get one just down the road). Milford lake has some great fishing tournaments for the real pros.
Boating, jet skiing, water skiing and tubing . . . reserve a storage site at Acorns and leave it at the lake where it belongs. But if you don't have a boat, don't worry. We do! Acorns Resort has a brand new Lowe Pontoon boat available for rent to get your whole group on the water for a day to remember!
